If you invoke File Linking in PalmConnect but have any of the
following conditions, you will find that you are "connected" to
the hard drive on your PC where PalmConnect is installed (i.e.
the icon will say "PC-C" if you PalmConnect is installed on the
C:\ drive of the "PC"). This is an indicator of
one of the following conditions.
Conditions: PalmConnect cable connected at PC end, but not at Zoomer end; COM port selected which is dedicated either to the mouse, an internal modem, or other device.
Check your PalmConnect Preferences for Connect and verify that you are connected to the COM port you believe you should be. Ensure this by pulling down the Port menu list in the Connect-File Linking dialog box and make sure that the desired port is highlighted. If not, select it. If it is, re-select it, then, if the "OK" button is still grayed-out, change the baud rate to 2400, then change it back to 9600, to get the "OK" button to highlight. Press "OK". This will force the preferences to be written out to disk. Also do this for Connect-Page Send/Receive options.
In some cases you may need to change the COM port settings for your internal modem or other device. We strongly recommend that you not use COM3 for PalmConnect due to the fact that by default, COM3 and COM1 use the same IRQ setting. If you have used custom settings for your hardware interrupts, adjust accordingly.
