Switching Ink and Text

In dialog boxes, switching from text mode to ink mode will cause apparent loss of the text. This is related to the ability to convert ink to text. Switching from text mode to ink mode causes the ink layer that was converted to text to be redisplayed. If the text was created by inking on the text layer there is no ink in the ink layer to be redisplayed, therefore a blank screen will be displayed. Likewise, when you switch from ink to text, you will be prompted to have the ink recognized. In this case, the ink layer is saved, but hidden, and the recognized text is displayed.

Everytime you switch from ink to text in a dialog box you will be prompted for recognition. This means that any editing you may have done to a line of text will be lost if you switch back to ink mode because the ink to support the changes doesn't exist.
