We keep hearing that GEOS 3.0 is compatible with 2.x, but our SDK docs say
otherwise. They say that when GEOS loads a program, it will check the
versions of all libraries it requires, and will load if the minor version of
the library is greater than or equal to the one the program requires, which
is why our 2.0 apps work on the OmniGo. But for the major version number, it
only loads it if it's an exact match, as the major version is supposed to be
used to indicate incompatibility. Doesn't that mean we'll have to recompile
our programs with a 3.0 SDK for them to work on a 3.0 system? I certainly
won't have the money for a new SDK. And I definately won't want to have to
distribute two versions of a program. Geoworks/New Deal will be killing
themselves because of this.
