In a recent 'Newsweek' CeBit suppliment an OmniGo 700 was featured. This is
not a strict next generation of the OmniGo 100. The '700 is a HP200LX
palmtop unit with a celular comms capability provided courtesy of a cellular
phone docked onto the unit. Needless to say this combo won't fit in your
pocket, nor has the '700 any pen/Grafitti features.
The cellular hardware development is courtesy of Nokia (Finland) and the
unit is aimed primarily at the highly developed GSM standard in the European
marketplace.
As for the comms software, well I haven't seen anything in writing about
this but the '700 should come bundled with Fax/Modem & SLIP/PPP dialup
software as a minnimum.
The last release date I heard (nothing in writing either) was Mar/Apr '96
{laugh} however in typical plamtop/handheld style units might appear in the
shops at the end of the summer.
Remember the OGO first appeared in the March issue of Byte Magazine!
Me thinks we need a hardware version of the phrase 'Vaporware'.
