I would suspect the problem occurs when you are trying to enter stuff
into a field that is set to be numbers-only or are accidentally starting
outside of the field you are trying to write in, or maybe even being in
the wrong graffitti mode. If you want to be sure you are in number-only
mode or expression mode, you should use the Graffitti window for all
input. Another option is to first do the Graffitti reset stroke and then
the Num-lock stroke, and then enter the number. The Graffitti reset
stroke is a stroke that moves diagonally up and left. This will remove
any conditions you have previously set, like caps-lock and num-lock. You
immediately return to the default letter-entering lowercase mode.
