I dropped mine out in our company parking lot. I was holding a little too
much and when I went for the car keys, the OmniGo took about a 4 foot spill
onto the blacktop. Other than some minor scrapes it is undamaged. I imagine
the varying reports of falls is dependent on the location, angle, and
distance of the fall. Mine hit on a corner directly on the hinge and the
battery cover popped off. I assembled the pieces expecting to have to get it
repaired. However, it came right up.
Personally, I feel a drop of any more than 5 feet onto concrete is a lot to
ask of any manufacturer. It is an electronic device, not a football.
Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my OmniGo survived the
experience.
On a side note, the scrapes to the cover are very hard to see. The outer
texture and color of the OmniGo nicely hides scratches and markings.
Initially, I feared that I was going to have this ugly chunk out of the unit
to remind me of the drop. However, a few days have passed and I have to
"look" for the damage.
