Unfortunately (or fortunately, as the case may be), Geos does indeed have
a very tight menu structure. The system handles all the menus; in some
cases the system actually provides the menus!

You would slim it down a little, though, and who knows what little
features with huge bugfixes can be removed. More importantly, though,
you'd make the program simpler and more focussed. I have no use for
gradient fills, but I would love a simple little program like you
describe.
