My OG serial port seems to have suddenly died :-(
I used to use omnicom and the Installer over the
serial cable to communicate between my notebook (COM1)
and OG. Today, I am unable to do so.
This is what I have tried so far:
With the same serial cable I have successfully used
my 200LX to "talk" to a terminal program on
my PC so I know the serial cable and PC COM1 are
working O.K.
I removed the batteries from the OG to reset it
back to factory specs (thank God for SRAM backup!)
and after this I am still not able to communicate with my PC.
When I go to the transfer program and select
Connect to PC it gives me the correct message:
"Connected to PC
Connected. Issue commands from the PC. Choose
Cancel to break connection"
Since I am unable to connect, I hit cancel on the OG.
After this it is unable to even start the OG connection
process giving me the following message:
"Unable to Connect
Please check the cable and the serial port settings."
Soft resets still give the same error and the only way
to clear this and get the "Connected to PC ..." message
again is with a hard reset (button on bottom).
A PCMCIA modem works probably with OGCOMM but I can't get OGCOMM
to work with an external modem+null modem adaptor+serial
cable combo. The external modem combo works well
with the 200LX though.
I tried the IZL Term program and when I select
"Serial cable connect" It gives me a:
"Stream error setting up serial port: 7"
error message.
What does this error mean and
any suggestions on what I should try?
Thanks
William
