Motorla have launched a new GSM Phone and PCMCIA Fax/Data Modem combo.
The card works with the Mototola 8400 phone. The card is V42 compression
capable, giving a calculated 34k bits/sec over standard 9600 baud. To my
knowledge this is the only GSM/PCMCIA data/fax modem combo to rival Nokia.

Due in October '96, Nokia and Ericsson are defining a standard for using
multiple GSM channels per single dial up session. This in theory could give
ISDN performance on GSM. Obviously this will cost more for users but as a
standard, provided by multiple vendors shoul keep pricing to a minimum.
