I have a Zoom 2400 (external) pocket modem that I got from =
Surplus/Direct. my cable setup is:
modem<->male-to-male adapter<->25 to 9 adapter<->null-adapter(9 =
pin)<->HP serial cable<->Omnigo
I have used Ogcomm and Zcomm lite with it. No problems so far... If you =
are using
Ogcomm make sure you select the proper BPS rate... I do not need =
anything more elaborate than atdt
to dial. I opted for an external modem because I want to stay connected =
for long periods of time (If I have the need) and the pocket modem can =
be powered from batteries or from an adapter. I made up a power adapter =
for the Omnigo using the body of a felt marker ( Faber Castell Design) =
the end plate of some batteries and a 3V Radio Shack adapter and some =
modest soldering . In case I am not close to a wall socket I added a =
holder for two C type batteries that is disconnected when I plug in the =
AC adapter. That way I can have batteries that last longer than the AA. =
This is an incredibly convoluted way of checking your Email. I wish HP =
would have had made it easier for us. Thanks to Nathan Fielder and Ray =
Schuler and all the People who have been sharing all this wonderful =
advise and software!
