For me this is enough to decide on. I don't have access to a mac to do
any developement work. It may be that I never use the SDK and instead
use some of the shareware stuff, but the mere availability of the SDK
for DOS/Windows is very important. For what I want (unix
connectivity) it seems very unlikely that I would be able to find
off-the-shelf software that suits me.

Some folks have said that they use some sort of custom DB as the phone
book since the built in one is so limited. Are there any downsides for
this approach?

Does either machine allow one to mark sections of a calendar? For example
on my paper calendar I usually mark a range of days, like when a friend
will be visiting me.

This is a slight concern. I hope the omnigo does not end up the PDA version
of the beta cassette(sp?) format.
