I haven't tried it, but does gdbio handle .apb files? I would think
that would be the best way to do what you want. Once you get the data
into a 'usable' format on a PC, you could then sort and archive them.
Or how about this (I'm thinking of this as I type it, so it may not make
any sense)
-Backup your files
-Erase all appointments
-copy that empty appointment file to something called appt.tmp
-Go about your business with new appointments
-At the end of the month (or whatever) rename the appointment file
ap0896.arc or something
-copy the appt.tmp to appt.apb (or whatever the name of the appointment
database is)
In theory (!) you should now have a archive file, and a blank appointment
book. You could recall the old archives with further renaming.
I would think a small program, either in DOS (batch file or Qbasic) or in
GEOS (IZL or GDK) could handle this with varying degrees of automation.
As long as the appointment book application can only load a file of a
fixed name, the only option short of a new application would seem to be
to shuffle the filenames and "trick" the app. It's kludgy, but I've done
stuff like that before and it works as long as you keep track of it all
and don't let anyone else do it on your machine!
