Hp database format 'USER DEF 16'

Greetings.

*** Has anyone tried to hack the format of the HP databases (GDB)
ala Andrew Gryc for the Field 'USER DEF 16'?

I am positive that it depicts the format for a note, but I
cannot figure out its cryptic structure.

I created a series of notes with the single letter 'a' and
various combinations of formatting. Looking at the dumped
results, I would almost think its random!

Ok, ok - I know it isn't random, but...

I would appreciate any help from anyone else trying to do this.

*** Also, does anyone know of a related format for GEOS?

Seems that for some constructs (like the ink format) HP used
directly from the standard GEOS format (which makes sense.)

*** Any GEOS developers out there that have documentation on how GEOS
stores formatting for text files or notes?

Regards,
Steve
