I always felt my pen scratchy against the OGO screen.
I intend to use the machine for 5-7 years (that's when crossing a
Nokia9000 and a Toshiba Libretto will produce something in the OGO's
size and price) so I tried David Virga's screen protector idea (posted
June 97). It become opaque too quickly for my liking.
Next I tried an idea from OmniGo magazine: using an embossing pen that
has a small steel ball for point. This felt scratchy too. A 40 times
magnifier confirmed my fingers- it was quite rough. Some polishing was
in order.
I found scribbling on some leather like when you're warming up a long
unused ballpoint works well. An old belt's rough side is OK. The steel
ball got very smooth but still not what I was after.
I've gone back to the original stylus and gave it the same treatment.
It really glides on the screen now and it's easy to "sharpen" it again.
