The following text was intended to be posted to the OGO mail list but
never made the post or archive. I am re-submitting from a standard
PC-based mail package to ensure the information is disseminated.
However, mail that I sent from my OGO to my home and office e-mail
address arrived successfully. Additionally, the OGO appropriately
downloaded new messages from my personal e-mail account. I am using a
Zoom 14.4 external pocket modem which resulted in limited power drain on
the OGO batteries (compared to PCMCIA aka PC card modems). Are there
any other success stories out there?
"Success! This message is being forwarded to you via my OGO 100 using
Artscom and my ISP. Per the recommendations of ArtSoft you must use
specific addresses (123.345.56.8) for your POP or SMTP server as opposed
to the DNS (pop.yourISP.com). Using the DNS label resulted an error
message about the server name. Mail was sent and messages were
received. Does anyone know the difference if I select remote mail in
the setup?
As for the fax portion, per ArtSoft, I left the setup string as the
program originally installed with no success. The modem will dial, the
connection will establish, the receiver states ("receiving"), the OGO
says sending message, and the receiver results in connection error. Any
one else experience similar problems? For me the fax is not a priority.
I need the e-mail portion so that I can leave the laptop at the office.
Recommedation: ArtSoft, can the address part be searchable by typing
the frist letter as in the Address Book of the OGO? Can multiple
addresses be placed in the address box? Keep up the good work!"
