I'm still not clear on whether the OGO is password protected or hung. Are
you presented with a password screen when the unit is powered on, or does
the OGO just appear dead? A hard reset should not allow you to bypass the
password if it was active. If you are getting a password screen, then I
would try some likely keystrokes as the password
as it would have to be accidentally entered in twice (for confirmation).
Ones that come to mind are "exit, quit, e ,x ,q", space character,
backspace char etc. If it appears the hardware is locked then it looks
like Doug's suggestions are next.
You can try to "clear" the memory by holding the "C" key while rebooting,
but alas this will wipe out ALL of your data as well.
