I have some comments for those thinking about creating gdb files using
gdbio.exe, the shareware database extractor/compiler. I have been
exporting data from an excel5.0 spreadsheet. Remember not to export
the title row because that will not be imported.

First, think carefully about exactly what kind of fields you want in the
database, because once the template is created, fields cannot be deleted
or added, only renamed.

Create the database template on the omnigo, and then get the empty
database onto your PC ( I use an SRAM card and the Transfer function).
Once I have merged the text file into the new gdb file, I transfer it
back to the ogo and open it. The database function reads the new
database file and creates the sorted, indexed version. You don't have
to change master.gdb

If you want to import into a Date field, the text must be in the form
mm/dd/yy such as 01/01/96.

I have found the choice list a worthless field type. You cannot use a
Choice List field with the View/Change Field Order tool. therefore you
cannot sort by this field.

Categories are very powerful because you can View Subsets and you can
select multiple categories for an entry. You can also add categories
once the database is created.
