I also want to ask the same question, because I did not succeed to
put a signal out to the modem. (If I send certain sequences like
ATDT 123.. from my laptop under Linux directly to the communication
port, I alwas get an apropiate response and
I can watch how the LED lights on the modem change.)
My modem (Creatix SG2834) has a 25 pin female connector. Since
the Omnigo serial cable has also a 9 pin, resp. 25 pin female
connector, I inserted a gender changer and connected it directly
to the modem. Since I did not succeed
to send anything to the modem, I tried chaining cables together,ie.
OG serial cable, gender changer, cable which came with the modem
which is
connected to the modem. I even inserted a third null modem cable
(female to female) and had to use two gender changers. (The
LED lights on the modem remained always unimpressed.)
I installed Ogcomm v1.01 and put the settings on Com2 (I tried COM1 as
well, but that seems to be the PCMCIA drive),
9600 bps, no parity bits, 8 data bits, no stop bits and raw.
I did vary the settings but may be not all systematically.
If I type text, it is not echoedin the window. However If I write with
the pen, the text appears in the window. I inserted appropriate
commands in the macro file and tried to send them via the pull up
menus, but to no avail.
BTW, data transfer to the PC works, using the transfer utility and
connecting the serial cable to the comm port of a PC.
I think my problem is already the physical connection to the modem.
I would also appreciate who will describe in detail the physical connection
to the modem, the settings in Ogcomm, what happens if one types
in Ogcomm or if one uses the pen and so forth. (This really should get
into the faq.)
Thanx
