Serial cables & power supplies

Hi all,

Has anyone had success at wiring their own serial cable for the Ogo? I'm
a bit disappointed that HP used a propietary socket so that I have to buy
their cable, which costs around $40 (AUS) when I'm sure I could wire my
own for around $5. Has anyone managed to find a connector suitable for
plugging into the Ogo?

Also, how well does a 3volt plug pack work as a power supply? I'm
currently working on a voltage regulator circuit, mainly to allow me to
use the 12volt pack I already have (saves buying a new 3v one), but also
'cos I'm concerned about voltage ripple from a normal plug pack. Has
anyone experienced any worries with ripple stressing their Ogo?

Thanks
