An Omnigo review & suggestions

I agree with most of the review. (I posted a _heinously verbose_
analysis of the classic question of Pilot vs. Ogo to one of the
newsgroups yesterday or the day before).

I think one of the main problems with readablility on the Ogo has much to
do with the smallness/fine-ness of the font used on the Ogo (I've got to
get a hold of the program that changes the system font . . . of course,
I'll have to get the cpack first . . . ). Simplifying some of the
screens would probably help too.

I, along with probably everyone else, wholeheartedly agree that the
battery life HAS GOT TO GET BETTER. Mine are draining almost weekly, so
I'm starting to look into rechargeables (I think somebody recommended the
Eveready setup).

A few things I would add :

1) A slightly better implementation of Graffitti when it comes to
punctuation and also date & time stamps (there are none in Graffitti as
far as I can tell).

2) If the desktop synchronization could be a smooth/seamless as the
Pilot's 32-bit PIM/Sync software, that'd be VERY much appreciated. I
don't have the c-pack yet, since their supposed to be releasing a new
version soon (this month?).

3) Better memory management of the state files. This is sort of a minor
point, but the need for the FN-F3/Soft boot thing seems sub-par in light
of the technology available. I guess I think the state files should be
managed more effectively so that they do not build up so quickly or at
all. Please note that I'm not denouncing the use of state files, just
they're unneccessary build up.

4) Read my lips: BETTER BATTERY LIFE!!! (no suprise but it's worth a
second round in my book ;-)

5) The overall speed didn't bug me very much when I first got it. It has
started to bug me (a little anyway) after I compared it to the Pilot.

6) A backlite screen would be cool, but not if it cuts the battery life
down any further . . . (Did I mention Batte. . . you get the picture)

>IMPROVEMENTS DESIRED
>- battery life (now 2wks-1mon), perhaps a recharging/connection cradle to PC,
hydride or lithium rechargable batteries.
>- grafitti help beside the screen for punctuation & extended characters;
>- speedier switching between apps;
>- somewhat bigger screen;

>- ability to light screen in dark situations like theatres, car
>IDEAL - voice recognition, dictating; thinner/lighter (trifold for bigger
screen?); bright screen
