Soon? no. Q2 97.
> also be a Windows CE (or is that Wince). Do you have any specifics on
the
no, it's not "Wince". These are great machines, and MS is backing them all
the way (they've already released the WinCE "PowerToys"), unlike HP and a
certain organizer plus which they don't actively support.
> Casio, like development tools?
specs on the casio? look at staples, they sell it; otherwise, 4MB ROM,
2/4MB RAM, 480x240x2 (that's 2-bit, ie 4 grayscales), backlit, SH-3 (from
hitachi), etc, etc. Compaq has OEM'd the Casio 'Cassiopeia' under the name
Compaq 'PC Companion'.
The WinCE SDK is currently in beta (2.1). You can pick up the CD at comdex,
you need NT4.0, and VC 4.0 (not 4.1 or 4.2). It has a debugger, Emulator,
etc.
There are curently 7 models anounced:
Philips Vilo 1
Compaq PC Companion
Casio Cassiopeia
HP Palmtop PC (most likely a working name)
LG GP40M
Hitachi (unamed as of yet)
NEC Mobile Pro
The Velo 1 comes with a built in 19.2 fax/data software modem, so there is
no significant drain on the batteries.
for more info, blah blah blah, check out my Win CE web site.
