I've been listening to the comments on the OmniGo 100 since it was released (I'm an HP fan, and was hoping, like others, for a great product). In general, the comments appear to be negative, particulary with respect to the screen. The negative aspect of the comments, other than the screen, appear to be its capability relative to a 100/200LX which many of us have. Because of the negative tone of the comments, I resisted purchasing the OmniGo, but purchased one this morning -- I returned it this afternoon. The screen is outrageously poor, not only because of its inability to be read in anything but perfect lighting, but also because of its size. For example, in the Phone application, because of the screen's small size you are unable to insert the common two hyphens in a telephone number in the default mode of the unit -- while you can increase the size of the two telephone number columns, you do that at the expense of the Name column, which is already too small, to which the numbers
apply. Character recognition worked well once you learned the Graffiti characters, but, in retrospect, shouldn't the system read MY reasonably formed characters (Newton system 2.0 does that very well, I've tried it) , instead of my adapting to a code that the computer can understand. While the OmniGo 100 may initially appeal and be addictive to technonerds, like myself, in the light of the afternoon (I purchased mine in the morning), it's nothing more than a gadget that will ultimately be relegated to drawer with all our other hardware and software Versions 1.0.
