Doing these soft reboots for the sake of opening up a small amount of RAM (relative I know) is kinda self defeating when you want your apps to come up where you left off. But, if you don't mind starting from ground zero, why now back up the key state files you would like to keep (yes you will need a copy of the Z's File Manager for file saves/moves/copies) and then copy the needed state file(s) back once the clean up is accomplished.
But, realize that state files will just rebuild once you access your favorite apps, all over again, every time... a 2MB SRAM card is under $80.. I'd jump on one, and leave it in the OG all the time..
