Where are jotter characters?

When I start jotter and when I go to new pages, I can't see the characters I write (graffiti or type or ink) unless I arrow up multiple times. Is this the way jotter is supposed to work, or am I or my OG doing something funky?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Otherwise, great machine!

(I'm new to the forum & posted a similar request in 911 a few days ago but received no response, maybe this is a better spot. Thanks for the help.)
