Has anyone actually used the Wyndmail wireless? I haven't read of a soul. I have been reading about how unreliable wireless has been for two way paging, even in major met. areas -
I just saw an article on a wireless 2 way pager user in Miami - couldn't connect - the provider wanted to know what intersection they were on, then they wanted to know what corner of the intersection - this would then help them determine if they had to honor their 10 mile range guarantee. The article went on to cite repeated problems in other major cities.

As for Wyndmail in general - no thanks - I'm not paying a stiff monthly fee for some wireless e-mail "solution". I want to plug a modem card into the pcm slot and xjack it into my cell phone or even acoustic couple it to a pay phone (I'll even pay for the "extra power" connector for the pcm slot), get my e-mail from Compuserve ascii or whatever. Knowing the history of sw development on the Zaurus, I don't mind waiting till summer, when something should have developed. Nothing comes overnight. These are still the early stages and I guess we will have to live with kludge, obscure or expensive solutions. But I also am aware that the new Zaurus 5800 comes out soon with more memory and an improved screen. Other units are coming out. If the Sony unit actually fit in a pocket, I would have bought it and sent this e-mail to AOL from its built-in AOL driver. The question is will there be enough of a user base on our OGO's to justify some serious third party development of the features we ne
ed the most? It's up to HP, and I feel they are really dropping the ball.
