I may be able to help. I tried to hook my Zoomer up to an Apple Laserwriter
II NT. The LW was set for 7 data bits and no parity. I set the Zoomer up
accordingly but it didn't work. I put a protocol analyzer on the line to see
what was going on.

When Apple says 7 data bits and no parity, what they really mean is 7 data
bits and space parity. The LW was expecting 8 bits for each character. I set
the Zoomer to 8 data bits and no parity and then it worked.
