SRAM card on Laptop

I use a 2M grid SRAM card on my Zoomer. My laptop (a 486 NEC Versa)
recognizes the card without problem under Linux. However, I can't get
it working under DOS. The sram utility came with the machine emits
only a single beep. I tried geopublish and it didn't work either. Do
I need to copy drivers from my Zoomer to the laptop? If so, which
ones? Please be specific, I really don't know much about DOS (another
ignorant UNIX person.) And don't tell me to run GEOS under DOSEMU
under Linux :-) I would love to do it on my Alpha box, but 64bit GEOS
is still far away ....
