File Linking problem on pc

I just put an AMD pentium clone motherboard with 2 onboard serial ports in
my pc, and now Geoworks won't recognize the COM ports for File Linking to
my Zoomers. No matter what settings I've tried (both in Geoworks and in
the motherboard BIOS), I get "busy or doesn't exist" errors when trying to
link. Even tried setting the port to 9600n81 with the MODE command before
starting Geos, and have tried booting from both msdos 6.2 and drdos 6.0.

The mouse works fine on either port, but linking doesn't. Geocomm can talk
to an old external 14.4k modem on either port, but attempts at linking to
the same port with or without the Zoomer attached (and no modem, of course)
only gives the error message.

My next plan is to try re-installing Geoworks, but the disks weren't with
the manual when I finally found that, so it might take a while to find
them. Since everything else seems to work fine, it doesn't seem like that
would fix it anyway.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem or solution might be? I'm
getting the digest form of this list, so email replies will be appreciated.
If there's interest, I'll be happy to post a summary of ideas.

Happy Zooming, and Happy Holidaze. :)
