I've tried about 8 external modems with my Zoomer, from 1200 to 14.4. The AOL connection software only provides 9.6 connectivity, so testing 14.4's with it would take ZComm (which I haven't tried) But I don't think there is a limitation on the Zoomer's side for that.
Just need a standard Zoomer serial cable (Not a null modem cable, unless you put a null-modem adapter on it to re-reverse the pin connections.
Since I keep my Flash-RAM card in the PC-Card slot, I haven't pursued a PCMCIA Modem. though there are two 2400 cards that do work.
