Just to set the record straight, Motorola has only discontinued this service for new users, existing users are not impacted by this decision. While I have yet to get anyone at Motorola to tell me WHY they decided to do this, I can state categorically that for the forseeable future existing Newscard users still have e-mail service.

My suspicion is that they discontinued the service because their coverage areas are still spotty (i.e. not enough transmitters) and this resulted in a lot of missed messages. I'm sure it became very labor intensive for the EMBARC folks to continuously re-broadcast missed messages. Note that I don't KNOW this, I only suspect that this is the reason.

Also note that I am in no way affiliated with Motorola, or in fact, any company that has anything to do with computers/pda's/messaging/etc. in any way except a user. Motorola has always dealt in good faith with me however, and I just felt that somebody needed to set the record straight.

Does anyone have any suggestions for purchasing Flashcards or SRAM cards for the Zoomer at
a reasonable price (Tandy prices seem awfully steep)? I have read through messages on the forum and made some phone calls today with the following results:

ACE Technologies said their cards don't work with Zoomer.
Educalc said their cards were 12 volt only (not the 5V required by Zoomer).
ZEOS said they haven't sold such cards for about a year.
I had to leave a message on voice mail with H-Co and haven't heard back yet.

Did I talk to the wrong people? Thanks for your help.

Sundisk makes a 5v card that should work with the Zoomer. Try 408-562-3400, ask for Farshid, and tell him AOL sent ya. ;)

Educalc sell HP flashcards that work in the Zoomer. The one I bought is the HP F1018A 5 meg 5 volt flashcard, they also sell 10, 20 and 40 meg HP flash cards. The 5 meg card sells for $199 and can be stacked to over 12,200,000 bytes. These cards are intended for use in the HP 95LX but work perfectly in the Zoomer.
