Hey, JimboAST...That's a surprise that those PCMCIA card modems wouldn't work, since the Zoomer's AOL program does have an option for a PCMCIA card modem under the Serial Port, in a pulldown menu.
My own personal experience with Zoomer and AOL. DON'T TRY TO OUTSMART the program!! I spent hours trying to figure out why my Zoomer wasn't connecting with my new Worldport Pocket Modem. I tried every pre & post modem string I could find. After a few hours of frustration, I stopped and took out my local phone numbers I had added...and I took out both the pre and post modem strings(in fact, there already was a post modem string listed in my NEW Zoomer...wonder how THAT got there??)
Anyway, with NO Strings<no pun, intended>. I tried the new user option...PRESTO. An instant connection to AOL's 800# and within 2 minutes I was online with (what I like to call) "AOL Lite."
The moral of my story....KISS....Keep It Simple, Stupid. Wish I had followed my own advice.
I also wish I could access the PDA Forum through my Zoomer.
