Fine except that my wife uses the external modem for our PC for her business and we can E-mail each other when I'm away from home. Besides, my pocket modem has an A/C adapter and there are times when the phone jack is nowhere near an electrical outlet, so the battery becomes neccessary. But I agree that it would be hard to justify using the pcmcia modem.
