> Can anyone tell me what a "Wireless E-Mail Pager PCMCIA Card" does. Does
it allow you to receive E-Mail from anywhere at anytime or does it just beep
when you have E-Mail waiting somewhere? <

Depending on the service to which you subscribe, wireless EMail could take on
either form you describe. Right now, I use my Internet alpha pager (an
Advisor) to get short EMail messages and my Internet data pager (a NewsStream
on my '100 and PB170 or NewsCard on a Newt) to get long ones, information
services like USA Today, and files.

> Also, does anyone know if anyone is working on a "self-contained" (by that
I mean just the card and NO wires) PCMCIA card that will allow you to send
AND receive E-Mail with out the need for a modem? <

We've (Motorola) outlined our product development plans for the next year or
two covering the development of PCMCIA wireless data receivers and
transceivers for all links in the Wireless Data Food Chain (e.g., one-way
wireless messaging devices like NewsCard, packet data store and forward
devices like those used by ARDIS and RAM, CDPD and circuit-switched cellular
devices, PCS goodies, LAN cards). The first of these (NewsCard) is hitting
the marketplace in OEM forms like the Newt Messaging Card and the one
mentioned for the Zoomer.
