I got my new AST GridPad at xmas and put in my Ace 2meg/4meg `DoubleCard'.
This is a PCMCIA card with Stacker built in. I couldn't get the Stacker
part to work, but I did get the acedrv.sys device driver going and was
able to format the card to 2M. This was great for me, as my other computer
is a sharp PC-3000 and now I could transfer back and forth. Then I saw in
the faq that `Stacker works great', and decided to go back and try to make
it work for me. I backed up the card, but forgot about the internal b:
drive. Eventually in my playing, I was forced to do the A-B reset, and I
guess many of you know the rest... Well, losing all the notebook pages
and addresses was a pain, but I was just getting started so I can survive
that.
The problem is, I can no longer get the acedrv.sys device driver to
install; it either hangs before the autoexec.bat starts up, or goes into
a loop repeating that it can't find the command.com command shell. Yes,
command.com is on my b: drive, and I've been trying all sorts of config.sys
arangements. Without acedrv.sys the zoomer can format the card to about
136K, so that's how I can transfer small stuff to it currently.
Anyone have any hints about
(a) what I'm forgetting or not doing to get acedrv.sys going ?
(b) what I should do to get the stacker part working ?
Thanks much,
rob.
