You think it's driving you nuts, imagine how your list-owner feels!
I've fixed the problem. Y'all shouldn't be seeing any more errors from
Syntex's CC:Mail system.
In case you're wondering why this happens occasionally, mailing list
management is not a perfect science. Various mail systems (and you
encounter just about all of them if you run a mailing list) handle or
mishandle mail in an infinite variety of ways. The UNIX listserv program,
which itself is far from perfect, tries to filter out the obvious error
messages which come back to haunt the mailing list when (1) someone's
account goes away, (2) mail gets deferred because of a temporary network
problem, (3) mail bounces because of a somewhat less temporary network
problem, or (4) just about any other random reason. For special cases
which listserv doesn't know how to handle, as is the case with the
Gary Gerber / Syntex / CC:Mail one, I have to enter an e-mail, address
in a special file which causes listserv to ignore all messages from
that address. That's what I did for Syntex's mailer error return sender.
So I've weeded this one out. I can't promise that it won't happen again
from some other strange mail system, but I am as annoyed as you when it does
happen and so I can promise to fix it as soon as possible.
