Re: What's going on with comp.sys.zoomer?

About comp.sys.zoomer:

I posted a Request For Discussion some time ago and there was very, very little
discussion. Actually, I had some discussion with the netnews hierarchy-keepers,
but that was about whether it should be comp.sys.zoomer or (they suggested)
comp.sys.pda.zoomer. There was little indication of interest or objection to
having a newsgroup about Zoomers.

So let me make this a survey and see what kind of interest there might be.

FIRST, PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT RESPOND TO THE WHOLE MAILING LIST. IF YOU WANT TO
PARTICIPATE IN THE SURVEY, ADDRESS YOUR REPLY TO BRIAN@GROT.STARCONN.COM. DOING
A "REPLY" TO THIS MESSAGE MOST LIKELY WON'T WORK. EXPLICITLY ADDRESS YOUR REPLY
TO BRIAN@GROT.STARCONN.COM. I REPEAT -- REPLY TO BRIAN@GROT.STARCONN.COM.

OK, now back to a normal tone of voice :-).

Here's the survey:

--- put some kind of indication (like an "X") next to your selection ---

1. Are you interested in a Usenet Newsgroup about Zoomers? It would be called
"comp.sys.zoomer".

_ yes
_ no
_ no opinion or indifferent

2. If such a newsgroup were created, would you prefer to receive zoomer-list
information via the newsgroup or continue to use the mailing list or both?

_ newsgroup
_ mailing list
_ both
_ no opinion or indifferent

3. If the newsgroup were created, would you be in favor or opposed to a
gateway between the newsgroup and the zoomer-list mailing list? A gateway
would mean that all postings to the newsgroup would be forwarded to the
mailing list, and all mail sent to the mailing list would be posted to
the newsgroup. A gateway would cause there to be more traffic on both
the newsgroup and the mailing list.

_ in favor of a gateway
_ opposed to a gateway
_ no opinion or indifferent

4. Do you have access to the World Wide Web (aka WWW or "Mosaic")?

_ yes
_ no
_ don't know

5. Have you ever used the Zoomer WWW information server?

_ yes
_ no
_ don't know

6. If you answered "yes" to 5., have you ever used the zoomer-list mailing
list archives on the Zoomer WWW information server?

_ yes
_ no
_ don't know
_ not applicable; I answered "no" or "don't know" to 5

--- Thanks for participating. Did I mention that you should send your ---
--- response to brian@grot.starconn.com and not to the zoomer-list? :-) ---
