I've been developing for PenRight! version 3.6. PenRight! is a seperate
environment for the Zoomer and other PDAs. It runs as a replacement to
GEOS. Traditionally, it was shipped as a runtime kernel that consists
of 2 seperate TSR's, and a sample application. It has been targeted to
developers of vertical market applications, and not to the consumer. In
that light, PenRight! did not contain the suite of user apps that come
with a GEOS PDA configuration.
Now, PenRight! has it's own merits over GEOS, but this is a function of
the intended user. It is easier to develop PenRight! apps and they run
faster, but they are generally used by turnkey application users such as
field data collections for insurance, utilities, health etc.
However, I think that is unfortuanate, and that a healthy market could
exist for Zoomer apps under PenRight, if the seeds of the marketplace
could be provided for with a suite of user apps such as a datebook, and
notebook...
Finally, PenRight! has it's own area in Compuserve's Pen Technology+
Forum. Just type Go Penright, and you'll be taken there. Their product
support folks will be happy to answer specific questions. Also, I'll see
to it that information from there is cross posted to this list as it
becomes available.--
