I highly advise putting the PCCOM call at the beginning of PENRIGHT.BAT or
AUTOEXEC.BAT for the exact reason you mentioned. More than once I have made
some .INI change only to find myself screwed out of GEOS. Putting PCCOM in
your PENRIGHT.BAT will allow you to gain access to the RAM card before it
gets stacked. This way you can backup ALL the data in your Zoomer by
using ZDOS to copy off the STACVOL.DSK file and then let it continue the
boot sequence. You can also take the opportunity to update system files.
Copying off STACVOL.DSK is a LOT EASIER then trying to backup all the files
by hand. It also means, if you use OS/2, that you can use Stacker in a VDM
to access your copy of the Zoomer RAM card.
