The announcement was made today at the Electronic Messaging Association Annual Conference and Exposition in Anaheim, Calif.

Available in mid-May, the CompuServe for GEOS interface will allow CompuServe members who use GEOS-based personal digital assistants (PDAs) such as the CASIO Z-7000 to access selected areas of the service. CompuServe Mail access provides the ability to exchange messages with millions of people worldwide, including users of CompuServe Mail, the Internet, various X.400 email systems, Novell NetWare MHS, Lotus cc:Mail and Lotus Notes, and to send messages to fax machines. Also included in the interface are scripts that allow members to log on to CompuServe from numerous locations around the world.

"Geoworks is delighted that CompuServe is working to bring its technology to the users of GEOS-based mobile devices," said Brian Dougherty, chairman and CEO, Geoworks.

"PDAs epitomize the fast-emerging demand for mobile information services," said Rob Mainor, vice president business information services and electronic communications for CompuServe. "CompuServe is committed to developing products to meet this interest among our members worldwide, and GEOS-based devices will play an important role in that effort."

Cost for downloading the interface will be $10.00, offset by a $10.00 CompuServe usage credit applied to the member's CompuServe account. There is no hourly connect rate charged during the download. To download the interface, members can type GO CISSOFT.
