AOL+Zoomer, need 9600bps

If anybody knows the answer to this, since AOL aparently does not, why am I limited to a 2400bps connection with my zoomer when is supports 9600bps. I know, I know, because AOL didn't program that capability in, but shouldn't they have? I'd appreciate any insight that anyone may have on this subject. As far as I know there is no physical limitation, the zoomer does support speeds up to 9600bps with a modem. I guess what I am really getting at is, shouldn't we demand AOL update there program.
Heck, when I download a file to my zoomer, there is a BIG difference between 2400bps and 9600bps. Don't we deserve better? Thank you.
