I have an OmniGo, and had a similar experience, I'll share it
below...

It took me almost 2 months, but generally it takes 6-8 days...

Back it up first, they will have to take the batteries (including
backup) out to repair it, and they may simply choose to send you a
replacement...

$175 is the "standard repair charge", or so I am told... It's how
much I *almost* had to pay to fix a cracked screen...

On New years eve I cracked the screen at work... The unit was
closed, and in my pocket for about 1 hour... I took it out, the
screen was cracked, and about 2/3rds of it was not displaying
anything...

On 1/3, HP picked the unit up, at their expense, at my moms work...
I called 8 working days later, only to be told it was "under warranty
evaluation"... I called back some time later, and was told that they
were waiting for payment, which was a shock to me since neither I nor
my mother had received any notice that it wasn't being covered by
warranty. I told them to send me a written quote and I'd send them a
check. I waited and waited, nothing came.

2/27 I called and was informed that it had been shipped back on 2/26,
UNREPAIRED, and that no quote had been mailed. Not only that, it had
been shipped TO THE WRONG ADDRESS (to an address that did not
exist!).

My mom called them up, and went ballistic, in her polite yet
threatening way... <G> And was told that the repaired/replaced unit
would be free, just ship it to HP as soon as itarrives...
My mom shipped it overnight delivery, and I got it back via overnight
delivery a couple days later, replaced... It included a fedex
document of some kind, and packaging for sending the old unit back...
(including packing tape! <G>)... Obviously I don't have the unit to
send back, so it must have been due to the use of some standardized
form that I got that stuff... :)

Well, all in all, it wasn't a bad experience... I saved myself $175,
and they were quite polite and courteous once we pointed out their
errors... But they do of course, lose points for screwing up in the
first place... <G>

All in all, service gets *** out of *****.

Have fun!
