Pulling the batteries didn't wipe the memory? How strange. You pulled the
back battery too, right? I would think about 10 minutes of no batteries would
do it. Only takes a minute for mine to lose everything; hate when I drop it
and batteries come out, including backup. Argh.

Oh, and as Steve says: Reboot, hold down c key. Answer y to the prompt about
wiping the memory.
