I'm not saying there shouldn't be open discussion of problems, but it's
gotten past the point of "is there a solution for this problem" and
turned into "blah blah blah blah blah".

I may stop reading this list, which would be too bad. I'm content for
now to just skip over such messages, but as the noise goes up, those of
us that simply want help/to help will just get tired and walk away.

I've been on lists like this before, and the exact thing that drove away
all the usefull people was "eeehhhn, it doesn't do this....
wwwwaaahhhh, why does it do that.... I heard that the project manager
in the 70's was this cool guy but the company wouldn't let him blah blah
blah so now their policy is blah blah blah... anyone at <insert
manufacturer> listening?????"

This type of discussion does NOT lead to improved products or inspire
someone with a solution to suggest it. It kills usefull mailing lists.

YES, do continue to bring up shortcomings and suggest workarounds.
NO, don't simply express your own feelings or theories just for the sake
of venting disappointment.
YES, ask if anyone else is having the problem you're having
NO, don't try to explain the complicated market dynamics that led HP
or anyone else to make the decisions they did.

Look at your post and answer the question "can this lead to a realistic
solution, or am I just going off because it feels good?"

I apologize for using a dirty word. I was just trying to emphasize my
point. I did not mean to direct anything to anyone in particular. I'm
not trying to insult anyone or call anyone names.

I'm certainly not trying to start an argument about what we should argue
about (another list killer). If you don't agree with me, IGNORE ME, don't
increase the noise level even further. (or at least disagree with me in
private) If you do agree with me, then simply return to exchanging usefull
ideas and software.

I will not post publicly about this again. Stop the madness!
