I haven't been following the recent discussion on the list about the new
ArtsCom communication package for the OGO, 'cause I was sure I'd never
get a chance to use it. Sure enough a few days later I have an
opportunity out of the blue to get an old Practical Peripherals 9600
baud external modem, the PM9600FXMT.

So I promptly d/l'ed the program, and gave it a try. No luck, it can't
communicate with the modem. I have connected the HP Serial cable that
came with the connectivity pack to a 9pin-to-25pin adapter and a 25pin
null modem cable and finally to the modem.

There's a catch: I have two 25pin cables. Only one is a null modem but I
don't remember which (its been almost three years since I used it with
LapLink, it was when I got my laptop and gave my desktop to my mom). One
has male connectors at both ends (pins) the other female (sockets).

Assuming that I'm using the right cable does anyone have any ideas what
I can do to get up and running with ArtsCom and my modem?

When I first tried the ArtsCom program I had the same problem, so I ended
up making my own connector cable and everything worked out fine - except I
have a Class 1 modem and ArtsCom up to now only works with Class 2. Waiting
desperately for revision to make this work.

I guess problem with all these cables + a null modem is the power ouput,
rather than the configuration.

Best of luck
