"Modem Woes", the continuing saga . . .

Folks:

I have followed the ongoing modem discussion with active interest,
since I played with my Hayes Optima 144 and OG a bit, but never got them
to work together. It sounds like we all know why now . . . So my question
is this: just what modems *are* compatible with the omnigo? If you all
want to email me privately , I'll compile a list and post it somewhere.
I would *really* like to make it work with a non-PCMCIA because of the
battery situation--I don't suppose anyone has an external 14.4 (that they've
tested with the silly thing) they'd like to sell, cheap?
