Recent events, mainly a bad hand injury, have left me unable to even play with my unit for a month, and every day I grow older, it's harder to read (literally).
I would like to propose or request a FAQ document or white paper be placed somewhere to summarize all of the help and work you folks have contributed, but in a form that an "average user" can utilize.
If I had the time and inclination, I could play around with all of the suggestions under General Discussion and figure them out. But right now, I just want to be a daily, average business type Omnigo user. I want to add very inexpensive SRAM and use it for reliable storage and applications. (prices, phone numbers, easy instructions) . I want to use most of the features, without kludge suggestions.
I want to get the best inexpensive connectivity kit to swap files with my PC (Windows would be nice, ECCO Pro would be nice, but I'll take anything as long as I don't have to spend much time learning it and as long as it is in any common two-way format - I am willing to do the busy work in-between). - connectivity kit, clip and go, etc., other file management sw with cheap cables, etc. I'll live without synchronization, but I want to maintain spreadsheets, contact management, etc.
I want communications to ANYTHING - AOL, CSERVE ASCII - what modem to buy, when, where, and how to make it work (I understand this is for later - but when?).
Should I buy the PCM device that plugs in and adds supplemental power to PCM devices? Etc.
In other words, is there any way, at this point, we can create a FAQ for the average "suit" who wants to use their OGO to the max, with realistic Usage Tips, Hardware Recommendations, Price and Source Info - SRAM, Connectivity, Communications, etc., specific files to download which will really be useful without too much fudging, etc.
Your suggestions are all very clever about using other GEOS files, tricks, etc. - especially the one on how to improve on screen fonts. I would love to make bigger screen fonts. I want to load the pocket Quicken I received. I want to load books. But I just don't have the time to learn and experiment like you guys - I'm a month behind on everything and I now want to play catch-up.
Based on most posts, it seems like this may be asking too much. In which case, a suggested timeframe for such a FAQ or white paper would be acceptable. I thought it was worth a try to ask. Thanks.
