You're attributing the NewsStream (serial older brother to the NewsCard) capacity to the NewsCard. NewsStream has a 32K buffer and 16 addresses (4 caps and 4 functions) while the NewsCard (and Messaging Card, FTM) has a 128K buffer with 512 addresses.
