Modem not reponding

I have a Zoomer and I bought an external modem for it. I also bought the cable to go from the zoomer to the 9 pin serial cable. I bout the cable to go from the modem to the 9 pin serial cable, and a gender changer for the serial cables. I used AOL on it, but it didn't work. It said initializing, and said that it was dialing, but never did. Then I get an error message that I can't get on to AOL at this time. Any suggestions? E-Mail if possible. I understand that Chrisd16 is well educated for the zoomer. Please respond. Thank You
