Taking an educated guess, I would suspect the integrity of the Z-Quicken data file...
(I do hope you do frequent back-ups to either a PC-Card or desk-top)
If you could copy your current Quicken Data File (or move it) then delete the copy in your Document directory [I hate losing data too], then start Quicken up (it will start a fresh file this way). It should start-up. If not then we have other problems that may require a hard-reset (I doubt that a soft reset will give you anything).
Before things get too bad, be sure to back up all critical data..
