If you put two null modem cables together, they cancel each other out.
But you should be able to join your modem cable or the "straight through" cable along with your null modem cable to achieve a long enough total for your purpose.
The size of free space on your Zoomer shouldn't matter, as long as what you intend to transfer will fit in the free space.
